Whats the correct resoultion for me?

i have windows 7. My monitor is the HP 2009m. I did the auto adjustment on the monitor but everything is still a little to big. My windows 7 res right now is 1024 byb 768. Any larger its way to big. Any smaller way too small. HELP!
