Is it common knowledge that Gandhi was r@cist against bl@cks?

No, it's really not common knowledge at all. I think few people know about that because the other day after reading a book about South Africa's apartheid, I stumbled across an article that showed disparaging remarks made by Gandhi about the blacks of South Africa, and I was very surprised. I was like wow, all I hear about Gandhi is that he was a peaceful, loving man That did so much for humanity and while I don't doubt that at all I kind of think that maybe he wasn't always the man he was made out to be, and its sad that this man I always thought of as great, didn't think of my race as equals. That being said, I think that Gandhi was a man, and men have their vices, none are perfect or angels, everyone sins, and I do think that the good he did outweighed the bad. Same with other great men in history, like Martin Luther King Jr. allegedly committed adultery but like I said he wasn't perfect, we shouldn't expect that and all the good he did outweighs some of the bad. -And even though Gandhi may have had some hidden views, ones that contrasted the messages of equality, peace, and love that he is known for, those messages (of love peace and equality) influenced many, such as Martin Luther King Jr. another great man who fought for civil rights and equality for all.
